Wanda Yvonne Sanders 80, of Berwick, went to be with the Lord, Thursday October 28, 2021, in Danville at her sister’s residence, with whom she was staying.
Wanda was born November 2, 1940, in Berwick, a daughter of the late, Olen and Elva (Fink) Saunders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Fred Sanders and a great nephew, Andrew Sanders.
She was a graduate of Berwick High School, and attended Bloomsburg University and Susquehanna University. Wanda worked at Consolidated Cigar and Milco out of high school, then after college she went to work at Geisinger Medical Center Danville for 30 years, retiring in 1996 as Department Supervisor. Wanda belonged to Susquehanna Valley Antique Car Club, DAC Miquon Chapter, National Defense, Historian/ Librarian, DAR Fort McClure Chapter, past Historian, Flag Committee, 2nd Vice Regent, Columbia Country Red Roses (Red Hat), Daughter of the Civil War Tent 49, Life Member of Columbia County Historical Society, 4-H 10-year member, and Jr Leadership.
Wanda wrote a book called “The Village of Evansville”, she also enjoyed traveling, and visited 36 Foreign Countries, and was in almost all of the 50 states. She was a avid coin collector, loved to swim, roller skate, enjoyed time with her family, and doing family genealogy of the Bower, Fink, Kramer, Sanders, Grassley, Bathurst, Hillegas and Underhill.
Wanda is survived by her sister Sharon Weaver of Danville, sister in-law Linda Sanders of Jersey shore, four nephews and their family; David and Gwen Sanders, Clinton Sanders, Martin and Ana Weaver, and Kevin and Karen Weaver, great nieces and nephews; Nikolas, Deidra, James, Kristine, Shannon, Alexis, and Nikki, and several great great nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday November 4, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 116 Summerhill Ave. Berwick Pa. 18603, with her Pastor Stephen Portner officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Pinegrove Cemetery at Walnut St. Berwick. Family will receive friends and family from 10:00 am until time of service.
