W. Larue Bogart, 99, longtime Berwick and Beach Haven resident, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Berwick Retirement Community.

He was born March 31, 1918 in Kingston, Pa and was the son of Worlie A. and Jennie Cragle Bogart.

Larue worked at Wise Potato Chip as a mechanic for many years. After that, he was employed at Fulton Lamp Manufacturing. Later on, he turned a lifelong hobby into a successful business and was self-employed as a painter; specializing in car mechanics and body work. He was known throughout the area as a talented and accomplished professional.  The Corvair and Packard were his two favorite car models to work on.

Larue enjoyed spending time outdoors and found his spirituality in bible study and nature. He also loved listening to gospel music.  He recently celebrated his 99th birthday by enjoying lunch at his favorite restaurant, Kentucky Fried Chicken, with his nephew Ron Bogart and niece Ruth Bogart.

As a resident of Berwick Retirement Village 1, Larue was well cared for, comfortable, and loved by all. His light-hearted teasing and witty smile will be missed by his loving family and the supportive retirement village staff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife Bernadine Bogart. He was also preceded in death by brothers; Stanley, Hillman, Glenn “Pete”, and Ira Earl and by sisters; Phyllis Manning, Carolyn Traugh, Joy Sweppenheiser, and Hazel Klinger.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Service will be Friday at 12:00 pm at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 1024 North Market St. Berwick, Pa 18603.
