Violet Phillips Obituary

Violet M. Phillips, of Berwick, passed away on August 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Surviving is her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Clarence S. Phillips.

Born on November 17, 1948, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Ruth Featherman.

Violet's professional life was marked by her unwavering work ethic. She retired from General Mills in Hazleton in 2010, after years of dedicated service. Her career also spanned various roles at the Cigar Factory, Rads Woodworking, and Deluxe Homes.

Beyond her work, Violet had a zest for life that was infectious. She loved to dance and found joy in music, often sharing these passions with her family and friends. An excellent cook and baker, Violet's kitchen was the heart of her home, where she created not just meals, but memories. Her children's pets were treated with the same love and affection she showed to all creatures, reflecting her deep-rooted love for animals.

A proud mother, Violet's world revolved around her children. She is survived by her loving daughters, Cora M. Soboleski and her husband Christopher, and Tracy L. Rough and her husband Ronald, both of Berwick. Her son Brian K. Phillips predeceased her, leaving behind his wife Pam Phillips of Benton. Violet's legacy continued through her adored grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Lexi, Tricia and her husband Stephen, Chelsea, Sean, and Nicole, her six great-grandchildren, and great-niece Hailee Mae.

She grew up with her sister Cindy Fowlers, brothers Carl, Gary, Lawrence, Timothy, Harry, all of whom she shared countless cherished memories. Her life was also touched by the early loss of her mother, Ruth, and her brothers Howard, Nelson, and Raymond Featherman, whose memories she held close to her heart.

Memorial contributions may be made in Violet’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
