Susan Jean Cerreta, age 72, of Berwick went home to God on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center. In Heaven she was reunited with her beloved husband and cherished mother, who passed just before her and welcomed her with the biggest hugs.
Sue was the best mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, and friend anyone could ask for. Her family was truly everything to her, and she was a caretaker at her core. She was also brave, strong, giving, and so funny, a firecracker who could make strangers laugh in two seconds and was an instant favorite to everyone she met.
Sue was born in Berwick on March 11, 1948, the daughter of the late Harriet and John “The Bull” Yendrytzka, and the late Franklin Oblosser, all of Berwick. She is survived by her sister Carol Karol and husband Dennis Karol of Rehoboth Beach, Del. She was preceded in death by her sister and husband, the late Donna and Barry McMurtrie of Bloomsburg.
Sue was a graduate of Berwick High School. She was a full-time mother and then a full-time caretaker for both her husband and her mother. She also helped her husband run the family screen printing business “Cerreta’s” for over 20 years. She was famous for her cooking, and she loved playing cards and Bingo and going on adventures with her family to Disney World, Rehoboth Beach, and Tennessee.
On April 15, 1967, Sue married her true love, the late Carl “Cheese” Cerreta. They had 53 beautiful years together and raised their three beloved children – John Cerreta of Berwick,David Cerreta and wife Jennifer of Bloomsburg, and Robyn Ryman and husband Tim of Berwick. She treasured her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Grandchildren: Dana Cerreta of Delray Beach, Fla., Gabrielle Cerreta of Espy, Nika Sokoloski of Brooklyn, NY, Corie Bush of Middleburg, Pa, Tyler Storm of Pottstown, Pa, Carson Cerreta of Berwick, Leo Cerreta of Bloomsburg, and Macy Ryman; and great-grandchildren: Anya Dashiell of Espy and Zoey Bush of Middleburg. They will always remember and miss their Nanny.
Sue will be so very dearly missed by us all. This world was a better place because she was in it.
