Sue Benscoter Obituary

Sue B. Benscoter, a beacon of faith and love, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 2, 1941, in Albemarle, NC, a daughter of the late Claude H. and Mildred (Deese) Burris. Sue's life was a testament to the power of kindness, music, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

Sue was a proud graduate of Albemarle Sr. High School and furthered her education at Stanly Community College in her hometown. Sue took pride in her work being secretary at Grace Baptist Church, and upon retirement was a receptionist at Dr. Flook's Chiropractic office, where she greeted everyone with a warm smile and a kind word.

Her love for music was inherited from her father, a passion that resonated through every note she played on the piano for various churches throughout the years, including her beloved Grace Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC.  Sue’s musical talent was an integral part of her worship and brought comfort and joy to many.

A devoted Christian, Sue lived her faith through action, constantly engaging with her church community and embodying the virtues she held so dear. Those who knew her were touched by her loving nature and faith-filled spirit, qualities that made her a cherished figure to all.

Sue's pride and joy were undoubtedly her family. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Kim Hoyt and her husband Wayne, and Tracey Badolato and her husband Robert, both of Nescopeck. Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Peter Stout of Berwick, Sage Badolato and partner Nikki Laubach of Berwick, and Season Olimpo and her husband Tim of Berwick, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Parker Anewalt. She also leaves behind two brothers, Eugene Burris of Chase City, VA, and Bryce Burris and his wife Brenda of Matthews, NC, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and closest friends who will miss her deeply.

Sue's interests extended beyond music to the culinary arts, where she enjoyed baking and cooking, following in her mother's footsteps. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her delicious creations.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Sue’s name may be sent to Grace Baptist Church, ATTN: Music Fund, 644 Edgemont St., Albemarle, NC, 28001.
