Stewart “Stu” Anderson Obituary

Stewart D. Anderson Jr., 90, of Berwick, lovingly known as “Stu,” passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, 2025.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Stu was the beloved son of the late Stewart D. Anderson Sr., and Marie (Nunemacher) Anderson.

A proud graduate of Berwick Area High School, Class of 1953, Stu went on to serve his country with honor as a paratrooper in the United States Army, earning an honorable discharge in 1956.

Stu is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Camille( Fenstamacher) Anderson; his daughters: Tracy Sink of Harrisburg, and Karen May and husband, Jeffrey May Sr., of Berwick. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald Anderson, and his wife, Bonita, of Bloomsburg; his grandchildren: Chanel Monroe of Harrisburg, Jeffrey May Jr. and fiancée, Ashley Cromley, of Bloomsburg, Ryan May and companion, Blair Johnston, of Berwick, and Eric May of Berwick. His treasured great-grandchildren: Casey, Mason, Emily, and Magnolia, brought him immense joy and pride.

Stu’s professional life reflected his strong work ethic and dynamic personality. Known for his impeccable style and signature flair, Stu was the last of a generation who believed in dressing with class—always standing out with his flashy, yet timeless, attire.

He left a lasting impact on the Berwick business community as the owner and operator of the Roman Pub and Stew’s Menswear, and he was a longtime loyal employee of Walker’s Jewelry. Beyond his business ventures, Stu was an avid gun and coin collector, passions he pursued with enthusiasm and expertise. Even in retirement, he remained active, driving a school bus for Bower’s and cherishing his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stu was a man of many interests and talents. He was a lifelong member St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, of the Rangers Hose Company, Maria Assunta, VFW, Catholic War Vets, the American Legion, and former member of the Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer, a dedicated hunter, and a true sports car enthusiast with a lifelong love for Corvettes. His devotion to Berwick football was unmatched, and he was a proud and familiar face at every game.

Stu’s memory will also live on through his many nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom were touched by his generosity, humor, and warmth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, Michael Anderson, of Wilkes Barre; and his dear sister, Barbara “Aunt Bobby” (Anderson) Volpicelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick.
