Sterling E. Shuman Sr., 93, of Bloomsburg PA passed away on Saturday March 22, 2025, at the Milford Delaware Hospice Center, where he had been staying with his daughter for the past six months. He was born May 14, 1931, in Derringer, PA, a son of the late Clarence and Katherine (Troy) Shuman.
After graduating High School, he joined the United States Army from August 1, 1948, until being honorably discharge on August 1, 1957. While serving in the Army he fought during the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart.
Sterling is survived by four children: Sterling E. Shuman Jr. wife Jing of Port Deposit, MD, Guy M. Shuman wife Charlotte of Ocean Springs, MS, Douglas P. Shuman wife Nancy of Forest Hill, MD, Barbara Shuman & Thomas Dy of Frankford, DE, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Sterling is preceded in death by his wife the former Gladys Eddinger, who passed away on September 5, 2022, grandson Bradley Shuman, and great-granddaughter Julia Jones.
Graveside services will be Saturday March 29, 2025, at 11:15 at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 N. Market St., Berwick.
