Scott Bower Obituary

Scott E. Bower, 85, of Berwick passed away peacefully on May 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Berwick on July 30, 1936, the son of the late Leon Bower and Helen (Welsh) Hayman.

He graduated from Berwich High School in 1954. On March 26, 1955 Scott married Darlene Mae Grant.

Scott worked for Wise Potato Chips for 29 years before becoming a rural letter carrier for the Berwick Post Office. He retired in 1999. He served several terms as a councilman for the borough of Berwick and was also active in the Berwick Planning Commission and Zoning Boards.

Scott was an avid Wilkes-Barre Penguins fan and held season tickets since opening day in 1999. He loved sports and played baseball in his younger years as a catcher. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, stamp and coin collecting. He was a member and trustee of Bethany United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of the Ranger Hose company and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Scott is survived by his daughters, Deborah Goetz of Norfolk, VA, Susan Morgan and husband Jim of Berwick, and son Scott Bower and wife Patti of Berwick. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Christopher Goetz of Norfolk, VA, Amy Bandics and significant other Dallas Hooper of Berwick, Michael Bower of Mifflinville, Matthew Bower of Berwick, and one great-granddaughter Taylor Goetz of Florida. As well as his two sisters Carole Butz and Grace Ellen Rubery both of Berwick.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife Darlene Mae Grant, and son Randy Bower.
