Russell “Rusty” Cain Sr. Obituary

Russell (Rusty) Cain Sr. of Berwick, passed away July 14, 2022, at his home.

Russ was born in Berwick, a son of D. Barry and Joyce (Egen) Cain of Berwick.

He was a graduate of Col-Montour Vo-Tech School. He was a lifelong resident of Berwick. Rusty began working at the Press-Enterprise in Bloomsburg, through the School’s Co-Op Program. Later he was pressman at Quebec Corp. in Hazleton, retiring due to ill health.

Russ was always willing to help his family with their home projects. He enjoyed racing/NASCAR/go-karts, wrestling and music. Rusty enjoyed hiking and antiquing with his “adventure” partner, Joyce. He especially enjoyed working on cars. Russ was often kidded that he would “polish” the paint off his car as it was so well cared for.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Russell (J.R) Cain Jr., and his wife, Joceline, of Berwick; stepdaughter, Samantha Young (Joe), of Shamokin; and foster son, Rayshon Estep (Gillian), of Berwick; two granddaughters: Adalynn Cain and Alaina Koons; step/foster grandchildren: Sean and Sadie Young, and Rayshon Estep Jr.; a sister, Deborah (Ron) Young, and a brother, Jeff (Kris) Cain, both of Berwick. Also, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Commonwealth Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion during his end journey.

In keeping with Rusty’s wishes, there will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory would be appreciated to Hope Lodge, sponsored by American Society, 110 W. Laurel Ave., Cheltenham, PA 19012. Hope Lodge provides lodging to qualifying cancer patients who are under treatment at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia.
