Ronald Robert Sitler, 81, of Shrewsbury, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born May 5, 1939, in Berwick, a son of the late Ray and Edith (Ressler) Sitler.
He graduated from Berwick High School and then joined the United States Coast Guard, retiring as Master Chief. Ron enjoyed going bowhunting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, the former Darlas M. Canouse; three children: Gary L. Sitler, wife, Kathy, of Lewisberry, Eric D. Sitler and significant other, Josie Carrier, of Shrewsbury, Shelly K. Sitler-Metallo of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren: Logan R. Sitler, Meaghan N. Sitler, Nicole R. Sitler, Elias C. Metallo, Sawyer S. Metallo, Phinney A. Metallo; and three great-grandchildren: Leyla Grace Sitler, Lincoln Jon Tome, and Lucas Ronald Sitler; as well as brother, Thomas Sitler, of Berwick.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers: Sheldon and Lemuel Sitler; and sister, Irene Frantz.
Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Pine Grove Street and Walnut Street, Berwick, with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10 a.m. until time of service.
