Ronald L. Garrison (Mr. G) 75, of Berwick, great father figure to many, mentor, friend and role model passed away suddenly Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Berwick Hospital.

He was born September 24, 1941 in Briggsville, Pa, a son of the late Doyle and Violet Knorr Garrison.

He graduated from Berwick High School class of 1959 and received his B.S. in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg State College in 1963. Then received his Masters of Education from Bloomsburg State College, Principal certificate from Lehigh University, and his Superintendent Letter from Scranton University.

He started his teaching career at Southern Columbia School District, was an elementary principal in the Berwick Area School District and Millville Elementary Schools.  He was head basketball coach at Southern and won the 1971-1972 District Champions.  He was a principal mentor, student teacher supervisor for Bloomsburg University and Superintendent of Benton Area Schools.

He belonged to the Berwick Elks, Bloomsburg Legion, Berwick YMCA, Ranger Fire Company, Berwick Golf Club, Mifflinville Township Forest Rangers, Maria Assunta and the Dutch Mountain Land Owners Association.

He was an avid golfer, outdoorsman, and Penn State Fan where he made Beaver Stadium his second home as a season ticket holder. He spent his free time with friends as a meatball maker at Maria Assunta.  He played Santa at family gatherings, school events and the Berwick Boulevard.  He was a Berwick Staple.  He was always forthcoming with generosity and loved everyone without expectation. He lived life to the fullest.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elaine M. Garrison siblings Audrey, Dolores, Betty, Shirley, Donald, Glen and Elwood.

He is survived by his children Ronald C. Garrison of West Pittston, Shellee and husband James Decker of Elkton, Md; Lydee Garrison of Dallas. Five grandchildren Chelsea, Haleigh, Zackary, Logan and Ronnie along with his loving partner of thirty years, Debbie Green, of Mifflinville.

Service will be Thursday at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 1600 Fowler Ave. Berwick, Pa 18603 with his Pastor David Kingsborough.  Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at James L. Hinckley Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. 1024 North Market St. Berwick, Pa 18603.  Family and friends may send condolences at www.jameslhinckleyjrfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Bull & Bull  LLP 106 North Market St. Berwick, Pa 18603 for Ronald L. Garrison Memorial Fund.
