Obituary
Rodney “RD” Young, 72, of Bloomsburg passed away Thursday June 8, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born December 27, 1950 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Carlton and Anna (Meshkonis) Young.
He attended Berwick High School and then joined the United States Navy. RD worked at Penn-Dot for 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Bloomsburg American Legion #273, Berwick VFW, Shavonic Club, AUCC Club, and the Danville Moose. RD enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball, football, and NASCAR.
RD is survived by three children; Jessica W. Wynings husband Gregory of Shickshinny, Peggy Marvin husband Alan of Shickshinny, Tyler Young of Hawaii, five grandchildren, and companion Donna Chapin of Bloomsburg
RD was preceded is death by his parents, as well as four brothers; Robert, Carlton Jr., Doyle, and Ronnie Young, sister June Phillips, and ex-wife Kay Young.
Services will be Wednesday June 14, 2023, at 11:00 amat the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
