Raymond Stanley Kemler, Sr., 81, formerly of Berwick recently passed away. He had been in declining health for the past 2 years.
Born in Wapwallopen on June 19, 1939, Raymond was the son of the late Clarence and Charlotte (Quick) Kemler. Preceding him in passing, were his brothers John, Ralph, and sister Janet (Arter).
Raymond was married for 47 years to his wife Linda, who passed away in 2008. Surviving him are his son Raymond Jr., and his wife Laura of Canandaigua NY, and son Kevin and his wife Mary of Etters.
Raymond was also the proud grandfather to Adam, Alexa, Andrew, Kayla, and Madison.
Raymond served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1960. He worked in manufacturing jobs for many years to provide for his family before starting his own painting business in 1985. He was a reliable tradesman to his many customers in the Berwick area for many years before retiring in 2000.
After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed attending Berwick football games, taking trips to casinos, and gardening in his yard.
Raymond spent his early years in Shickshinny and often shared many stories from his time growing up there with his family. His personal bond to the community remained strong throughout his lifetime. He was widely known by friends in the town by his given nickname of ‘Butch’ during his youth.
A private graveside service was held in his honor by his surviving sons, their wives, and his grandchildren.
Charitable contributions may be made in his name to Lollipop Farms Animal Shelter, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450 and All 4 Paws Rescue, P.O. Box 422, Chester Springs, PA 19425.
