Neil Karshner went home to be with his Lord on April 2, 2021. He was born December 29, 1944 in Lightstreet, a son of the late Carl and Freda (Crawford) Karshner. Neil was 76 years old when he finished his race.
Neil is survived by his wife Gayle, two children; Kari Johnston husband Monte, Kurt Karshner wife Carise, eight grandchildren; Mikayla, Micah, Kylie, Kameron, Brandon, Caia, Zoe, and Kurtis Aden, all of North Carolina. As well as his brother Lynn Karshner of NC , sister Ilene Lorrow of MA, and sister Louise Hock of Lancaster PA.
Neil served his country in the U.S. Army and was briefly stationed in Japan. When he returned from his service, he met and married the love of his life, Gayle (Mott) Karshner on June 29, 1968 and they lived, loved and raised their family for 52 years.
Neil proudly worked as an instrumentation technologist with Merck Co until the time of his retirement and spent his free time serving his church, LCBC.
He enjoyed being busy and productive. For him, work was play. He built the family home and tended his land with his own hands. His selfless nature, humility, playfulness and unique humor drew everyone to him. He was loved by all those who knew him, because everyone around him felt accepted and loved unconditionally. More than anything else, he was defined by his deep faith in and infectious love for Jesus.
He and his wife loved spending time with dear friends and family, and adored his children and his 8 grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family at Elan Memorial Park.
