Mila Bove Obituary

Mila Mae Bove, nee Stout, died of natural causes Sept. 17, 2021, at the age of 96, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born March 20, 1925, she was the daughter of  Paul G. Stout and Pearl Avery Stout. Mila was one of seven children: Albert, Eugene, Raymond, Clifford, Nora and Christine,  all of whom predeceased her except her sister, Christine. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John B. Bove, who passed away on Nov. 15, 1970.
She grew up in Nescopeck but lived most of her life in Berwick. At the time of her death, she lived in Bloomsburg with her son, Kirk.
She is survived by her sister, Christene Seward, nee Stout; son Carl Sponenberg, wife Jean, nee Dunn; son Craig Sponenberg, wife Lydia, nee Colon; son Kirk Bove; daughter Karen Bove; five granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Affectionately known as “Sis”, “Mother”, “Mom” and “Grammie”, she was particularly proud of all of her children and her descendants. As a member of the “Greatest Generation”, she loved her church and her country and sacrificed everything for her family. After her trust in God she left us all a legacy of a strong woman’s role in the home, in the workforce, in scholarship and in athletics. From her participation on the women’s high school basketball team in Nescopeck in the early 1940s to her support of all the present teams, she loved local sports and was especially proud of Karen.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, Berwick, followed by a church Funeral Service at noon. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Cemetery after the service. Please follow CDC guidelines.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Calvary United Methodist Church, 1135 Orange St., Berwick, Pa.
