Mary E. Henry Davis Davenport was called home to heaven on April 30, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Rutledge) Henry and a member of the Bloomsburg High School class of 1963.
Mary was an active member of the Berwick Elks Lodge #1138, holding the honor of Exalted Ruler for four terms. She also baked for many of their fundraisers, and her famous raisin-filled cookies will be sorely missed.
Prior to her illness, Mary worked as a home caregiver for 15 years. She loved each of her patients dearly and considered them and their loved ones as honorary members of her wide and wonderful family. And family meant everything to Mary. She would often say that raising her children was her greatest achievement in life, while her greatest joy was the arrival of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son Barry Jay Davis Jr., grandson Andrew James Reisinger, sister Barbara Jean Comuntzis, and brother John Alfred Henry.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of thirty years Larry Davenport; children Barbara Davis-Pyles (James), Carol Davis Frazey (Paul), Barry J. Davis (Marla), Ruby Davenport Davis (Phil Laubaugh), Chris Davenport Bedient (Mike Heller); grandchildren Grace, Christopher, Judas, Mark, Luke, Piper, Tegan, Gabriel, Tiffany Hoffman (Jimmy), Brandi Burkhart (Terry), Larry, and Nicole; great grandchildren Charley and Everly; nephew D.J. Comuntzis and niece Connie Comuntzis.
Services will be held Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 N. Market St., Berwick with Chaplain Mike Delp officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service.
