Marie L Montecalvo

Marie L. Montecalvo, 92, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at her home. Born in Shickshinny on November 21, 1931, Marie was the daughter of the late John Lazarowicz and Josephine Klish. After her marriage to the late Mike Montecalvo, Marie made a home for her family in Berwick.

Marie was a gifted seamstress before she started her career in the Sample Department at the Berwick Ribbon Factory, where she worked until retirement. In addition she also ran Montec Storage for many years. Beyond her professional life, Marie was active in her community, volunteering at the local polls and with Meals on Wheels. She was also a devoted and faithful member of her parish, St. Joseph’s.

When she wasn’t exploring new places or tending to her garden, Marie enjoyed her time bowling in a league at Stenko’s. More than anything, Marie was most happy when her family was near. Her grandchildren will forever treasure time spent at their grandparents home – with the memories of Christmas Eve holding a special place in their hearts.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her 3 infants: John, Mary and Maria, 9 siblings, her great grandson Finn, and her husband of 56 years, Mike. She is survived by her three sons: Michael Montecalvo and his wife, Michele, JohnMontecalvo and his wife, Susan, and Mark Montecalvo, all of Berwick; six grandchildren: Nicholas, Megan, Kayla, Nicole, Gina and Carly; and five great grandchildren: Luca, Owen, Sawyer, Scarlett and Carson.

A viewing and mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe Street, Berwick. The viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m., Mass will start at 11 a.m. A burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Briar Creek Township.
