On December 22, 2020, the world lost one of its truly good men. John A. Knorr, Sr., 87, of Berwick, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 9, 1933, he was the son of the late LaRue and Anna (Fowler) Knorr.
A 1952 graduate of Berwick High School, John proudly served in the U.S. Navy before holding various careers at Consolidated Cigar, Hart's Rifles, and most notably, PPL, from which he retired.
John was one of the kindest and most welcoming men you would ever meet. It didn't matter if you were a lifelong friend or merely a passing acquaintance, it was impossible not to like him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and tending to his immaculate garden every summer. However, there was nothing he loved more than his family. Whether it was strawberry picking, breakfast with his brothers, a trip to Knoebels, summer picnics by the pool, or just a random visit, if he was with family, he was happy.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his two brothers: LaRue Knorr, Jr. and William (Brooks) Knorr; his four sisters: Phyllis Kemp, Carol Whitmire, Louise Munoz, and Miriam Boudman; and his daughter-in-law, Judy Knorr.
He is survived by his soul-mate and loving wife of 63 years, Sandra Knorr; his son John A. Knorr, Jr., Berwick; his two daughters: Mrs. Arnold (Dorothy) Solomon, Florida; and Mrs. Melvin (Jodi) Kerstetter, Jr., New York; as well as 5 grandchildren: Mrs. Christopher (Erika) Issler, Mrs. Brian (Lauren) Cuff, Joshua Knorr and wife Christine, Jared Solomon, and Melvin Kerstetter III; and 5 great-grandchildren: Emily, Alison, Luke, Jason and Tyler.
Also surviving are his three brothers: Richard Knorr and wifeMaryLu, and Clayton Knorr and wife, Pat, both of Berwick, and Bob Knorr of Arizona.
Graveside services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, December 29 at 11:00am.
