John M. “The Tin Man” Bazis Jr., 78, of Berwick went to be with the Lord Saturday March 5, 2016 at Bonham Nursing Home. He was born June 26, 1937, in Philadelphia, a son of the late John M. and Anna Mildred (Savukinas) Sr.
He graduated from West Catholic Boys High School, Philadelphia, then graduated from welding school. John joined the Air National Guard as a firefighter. He was a member of the Boilers Union 13 out of Philadelphia. John had a passion for spreading the gospel through his tin man ministry. His life’s devotion was taking care of his wife of 58 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife the former Theresa Szary, whom he married November 29, 1958, and five children; Steven J. Bazis and wife Sandy of Cantonment, Florida, Christine Carr and husband Lynn of Berwick, Loretta Berry and husband Stephen of Castle Rock, Colorado, Michael J. Bazis of Fair Oaks, California, Melissa Bazis and husband Stephen Luttrell of Rocksboro Park, Colorado, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Also, two brothers James Bazis and wife Patricia of Philadelphia, PA, Thomas Bazis and wife Lise of Philadelphia, PA, and two sisters Constance Crile of Delaware, and Roseann McPhearson of Virginia.
John was preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister Joann Quinlan.
Services will be Wednesday March 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1024 Market St. Berwick, with son-in-law Lynn Carr officiating. Burial will follow at New Rosemont Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am till time of service.
