Jeanne B (Stout) Hoida

It is sad to report that Jeanne B. Hoida, 88, of Berwick, Pa, who was born March 15, 1934, succumbed to a sudden illness on May 5, 2022.  Jeanne was well-known in the community for her talents as a seamstress and was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edward G. Hoida; her parents, Edwin E. Stout and Mildred S. (nee Greenly); her siblings, Phyllis O. McAfee, Jack R. Stout (Barbara), Glen A. Stout; and nephews Jan R. McAfee (Kathy) and Jay S. McAfee. 

Jeanne and Ed had no children of their own but loved and were loved by their siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Surviving are sisters-in-law Doris E. Schechterly (Barry) of St. Charles, MO; Evelyn E. Roob (Dan) of Sebring, FL; and Janice L. Hoida of Vancouver, WA; and nephew Jeff McAfee, currently living overseas.  From Illinois, niece  Kathleen S. Stanislawski (Richard), and nephews, Michael E. Stout (Elizabeth), Glenn A. Stout (Cheryl), and Keith P. Stout (Heather), and their children.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1135 Orange St., Berwick. Jeanne’s cremated remains will be interred with late husband Ed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for military personnel and their spouses in Elwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Calvary United Methodist Church, 1133 Orange Street, Berwick, and the Berwick Senior Center, 1401 Orange Street.
