Harriet Phyllis Yendrytzka (Wooley), age 91, peacefully passed away in her Berwick home on Tuesday January 5, 2021.
Harriet was born in Berwick on April 4, 1929. She was the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Kemp) Wooley of Berwick. She had one brother, the late John Griffin Wooley Jr.
Harriet married the late Franklin Oblosser in 1947. She was then remarried to the late John Yendrytzka from 1957 until his death in 2002. Together, they raised three precious daughters – Susan Cerreta of Berwick, who has been Harriet’s full-time caretaker;Carol Karol of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and the late Donna McMurtrie of Bloomsburg. Harriet is also survived by her son-in-law Dennis Karol of Rehoboth Beach, DE. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Carl “Cheese” Cerreta of Berwickand her son-in-law Barry McMurtrie of Bloomsburg.
Harriet loved her ten grandchildren – John Cerreta of Berwick; David Cerreta of Bloomsburg; Robyn Ryman of Berwick; Christopher Karol of Milford, DE; the late Dennis M. Karol “DenDen”; Matthew Karol of Milford, DE; Andrea Dangerfield of Georgetown, DE; Nikki Boyd of Moseley, VA; Paula Kaiser of Bloomsburg; and Brian McMurtrie of Hazleton, PA. Harriet was blessed with 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Harriet was a graduate of Berwick High School. In addition to her life as a mother, wife and homemaker, Harriet was previously employed at Mickey’s Diner, Consolidated CigarCorp. and Wise Potato Chips in Berwick.
Harriet loved motorcycle riding with her beloved husband John ‘The Bull’ and going dancing with him at the Flying Aces motorcycle club. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, collecting carnival glass, putting together puzzles, and looked forward to her frequent phone chats with her granddaughter Andrea.
Harriet was an unforgettable woman with a great sense of humor who made an impact on all of the important people in her life.
