Harriet H. Franz age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 6, 2020, at the Gardens at West Shore in Camp Hill, PA where she resided. Born August 1, 1924 in Hettlerville, PA, the daughter of the late Andrew (Andy) Hildebrand and Margaret (Knorr) Hildebrand.
She graduated from Mifflinville High School, then attended Bloomsburg College. Harriet worked at Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania from 1946 until her retirement in 1985, where she started as an operator and retired as a facilities assigner. She belonged to the Telephone Pioneers, Order of Eastern Star Astro Chapter 380 where she held the office of Worthy Matron, Amaranth Chapter, and Daughters of the Nile. Harriet was a member of Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, PA and Grace Lutheran Church in Berwick, PA, where she played the organ and sang in the choir. She enjoyed playing the piano for several other organizations in Berwick and Harrisburg.
Harriet will be remembered for her many skills and talents. She was a very “crafty” person and skilled in her hobby of sewing and hand stitched quilts. She loved to bake pies and she made homemade ice cream which was the family favorite. Planting flowers in her gardens was one of her favorite chores to do and to share with her Grandchildren.
Harriet is survived by her three children; Lynda A. Jones of Lewisberry, PA, Laurie J. Beach-Sullivan, husband Dave of Fort Worth, TX, David R. Jones (Kelly Martin) of Sanford, FL, five grandchildren; LeAnne Richcreek, husband Chad of Lewisberry, PA, Lindsay Beach of Tempe, AZ, Jessica Beach of Rockford, IL, Justin Beach wife Ashley Myhres-Beach of Rockford, IL (stationed in Okinawa, Japan), Zachary Jones of Sanford, FL, five great-grandchildren; Cammi Richcreek, Tyler Beach, Lily Wright (Beach), Treyce Beach, Britain Beach, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her youngest brother Rich Hildebrand (Kay) who resides in Vermont.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband’s Archie J. Jones (Mifflinville, PA) who passed away in 1978, and Roy B. Franz (Harrisburg, PA), who passed away in 1981, one brother; Andrew (Andy) Hildebrant (Rita), a sister Janis Huntington (Ed), and a sister Mary Elizabeth Naugle (Sterling).
