Frank A. Pypiak, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville surrounded by his family. He was born on June 20, 1941, in Berwick, a son of the late Francis and Filomena (Fantuzzi) Pypiak. Frank's life was a testament to his loving nature, his handy skills, and his friendly demeanor that left a lasting impact on those around him.
Frank's journey began as a young man when he attended Berwick High School, after which he honorably served his country by entering the United States Navy on March 29, 1962 and being honorably discharged on March 28, 1968. His dedication to his nation was paralleled only by his commitment to his family. On July 7, 1962, he married the love of his life, Judith Durkee, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage, and together they raised a family of four wonderful children: Leah Sosnoski and her husband Bob of Bloomsburg, Valerie Blass of Berwick, David Pypiak of Berwick, and Jason Pypiak and his wife Michelle of Berwick. His family extended to include 12 adoring grandchildren—Jared, Adam, and Karisa Sosnoski; Rachael Souders and her husband Bill; Thomas Blass and his wife Andrea; Danielle Blass and her partner Johnathan Williams; Seth, Benjamin, Joshua, and Rebecca Pypiak; Kelsey Pypiak; and stepson Michael Cuff—as well as five great-grandchildren: Elliana and Isaac Souders, Miles Blass, and Jamesyn and Ellowyn Pypiak.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Yvonne Gutman, and son-in-law Tom Blass.
After his military service, Frank embarked on a career that saw him spending the majority of his life as an over-the-road truck driver. His work ethic and leadership skills led him to a well-respected position as a foreman at C&D Waterproofing.
Beyond his work, Frank involved himself with organizations such as the Garibaldi Society, Maria Assunta, Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, and the Bloomsburg Elks. His interests were as diverse as his talents, ranging from gardening, where he took pride in maintaining a meticulous lawn, to crafting birdhouses that graced many homes in Berwick. Frank also had a passion for wine-making and cooking, hobbies that he often shared with family and friends during gatherings that were filled with laughter and love.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday November 7, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Berwick Golf Club, 473 Martzville Rd, Berwick, PA 18603.
