Evelyn (Vayda) Formica

Evelyn Formica, 90, of Berwick, went to be with the Lord, Monday March 15, 2021, at Bonham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 16, 1930 in Hazelton, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Wargo) Vayda.

She graduated from Hazelton High School and then worked in real estate. Evelyn was a member of the Berwick Senior Center and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and was on many of the church committees. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards with her friends, doing puzzles, and playing video games on her tablet. She loved having weekly family dinners at her house on Sundays.

Evelyn is survived by her two daughters; Linda Malatesta husband Leo, Lori Van Pelt husband Kevin, both of Berwick, two grandchildren; Jessica Wynings, Joshua Harvey, four great-grandchildren; Emily, Rachel, Brantley, and Kolton, and sister Carol Lincovich of Tamaqua.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Rocco “Rocky” Formica, who passed on June 21, 2007, and two brothers Kenneth and Alan Vayda.
