Ethel M. (Scheeler) Dovey

Ethel M. Dovey, 86, Berwick passed away on October 17, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born in Doylestown, PA, on January 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Ethel (Mitchener) and Raymond Scheeler.

She worked for many years at Merck, Sharp, and Dohme, West Pointe, PA, until her retirement in 1993. Ethel loved to work in her flower gardens, was an avid reader, and enjoyed making beautiful cross-stitch pictures for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Schlichter, and two son-in-laws, Thomas Lauer and Ronald Patterson.

She was the devoted mother of five daughters: Deborah Lauer Mayernick, wife of Mike Bloomsburg, Karen Patterson, wife of the late Ronald Patterson, Clearwater, Fl, Sandra Vasey, wife of Richard, Doylestown, Virginia VanLuvanee, wife of David, Millville, and Kimberly Gibble, wife of Thomas, Berwick, who she resided with for 24 years. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by one brother, Raymond Scheeler Jr. (Donna), Telford.

Arrangements have been entrusted to James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. At Ethel’s request, there will be no service. There will be a private gathering at the family’s convenience.
