Elwood “Ike” L. Heller, 83, of Berwick passed away Monday May 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 21, 1932 in Mifflinville, a son of the late Holland and Phema (Shadle) Heller.
He attended Berwick schools and then entered the Army during the Korean War. He was a workaholic and late in life loved to process wild game being known as the “great meat cutter”. Ike was a life member of the West Berwick Hose #1, Life Member of VFW Berwick Post 821, member of Masonic Lodge Oriental 460 Orangeville, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite in Bloomsburg, and a member of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Ike and his group of great friends would meet every morning at McDonald’s for breakfast. He was a man of strong faith.
Ike is survived by his wife the former Jeanette Seely, whom he married October 4, 1950, son Daniel Heller Sr. and wife Rebecca of Sudan, Texas, grandson Daniel M. Heller Jr. and wife Rachel of Evansville, and great-granddaughter Allysen Heller. Also, two brothers Wayne Heller and wife Lillian and Rodney Heller and wife Carol, and a sister-in-law Mavis Heller all of Berwick.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents as well as an infant daughter Cindy Kay, and brother Kermit Heller.
A memorial service will be held Friday June 3, 2016 at 10:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc, 1024 Market St. Berwick with Grayden Gulliver officiating. Burial will follow at Briar Creek Cemetery.
