Ellen (Lowe) Townsend Pyles

Ellen Lowe Townsend Pyles, 89, of Berwick passed away Friday June 12, 2020 surrounded by her family at her  home. She was born February 16, 1931 in Berwick, a daughter of the late Charles Frederick and Myrtle E. (Wilson) Lowe.

She graduated from Berwick High School and then went to Philadelphia where she obtained her nursing degree. After receiving her degree she served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, before returning to Berwick and beginning her career as a nurse at the Berwick Hospital where she worked until she retired. Ellen was a member of Berwick Christian Church and First Baptist Church of Berwick.

Ellen is survived by two nephews; Larry Lowe and wife Jane and Donald Lowe and wife Cheryl.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Frank Pyles, son John Charles Townsend, brother Donald Lowe Sr., and sister-in-law Lucreta Lowe. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday June 17, 2020 at 10:00 am at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with Pastor John Hill officiating. Family and friends may send online condolences to jameslhinckleyjrfuneralhome.com.
