Elizabeth Charlotte Eveland, 86, of Berwick, went to be with the Lord, Sunday August 22, 2021, at Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Danville. She was born June 26, 1935, in Berwick, a daughter of the late Ferdinand B. and Hazel (Belles) Douthat Sr.
She was a graduate of Berwick High School. Elizabeth worked at Lady Ester and Kaydette for most of her life, retiring at 70. She loved animals, especially her cats. She loved to sit on her front porch and look across the field at the mountains. She enjoyed when it would rain as it came over the mountains and gradually approached the home from across the field. Lighting was beautiful, but scared her.
Elizabeth enjoyed watching sunsets, stormy and cotton clouds, and the rainbows with God’s Promise, and the wonder of God’s creations. She was concerned about souls being saved, and being with God after death, accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior. She loved to read the Bible and study the Word. She listened to gospel music and old hymns. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she helped with Communion and the bizarre. At one time she was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack 88. She loved traveling to Lancaster. She helped her sister-in-law make wedding and birthday cakes. She enjoyed canning.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, Scott and Lance Eveland, brother Burton Douthat and his wife Linda, sister Launie Brown and her husband Wilbur, two sister-in-laws Delores Witchey and Marjorie Eveland, and brother-in-law Jerry Eveland, as well as many nieces and nephews, and good friend for over 54 years, Georgine Weaver and her son Doug.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, Roger Eveland, who passed on November 21, 2009, brother Ferdinand “Bernard” Douthat Jr, and sister Lindalou Titus.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00AM and services will be held on Friday August 27, 2021, at 11:00AM at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. 1024 N.
