Eleanor Yohey English, 97, of Berwick passed away on Sunday September 15, 2024, at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Bloomsburg. She was born July 26, 1927 in Berwick, a daughter of the late Howard and Edna (Evans) Eckroth.
She graduated from North Center Schools and worked at the former Charmund Nursing Home and Hills. Eleanor enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and doing puzzles.
Eleanor is survived by seven children: Charles Yohey wife Susan of Mifflinville, Richard Yohey wife Gail of Orangeville, Harry Yohey of Berwick, Donald Yohey wife Charlene of Berwick, Ann Burkland husband Rod of Orangeville, Ellen Yarnell husband Bill of Orangeville, Paul Yohey wife Cheryl of Berwick, 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, as well as two husbands Howard Yohey who passed away in 1961, and Joseph English who passed away in 1998, son David Yohey, daughter Mary Ducellier, brother Richard Eckroth, and four sisters: Bernice Harner, Linda Sutton, Doris Eckroth, and Mary Jane Ternowski.
Services will be Thursday September 19, 2024, at 11:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 amuntil time of service at the funeral home.
