Dr. Harold Hunter Johnson “Ebb”, 90, of Millville passed away on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at his daughter’s residence. He was born February 26, 1930 in Berwick, a son of the late Robert Lee Roy and Marcia Camelle (Zeth) Johnson.
He graduated from Berwick High School class of 1947, where he was active in the band as well as President. He also played varsity basketball. Harold went to undergraduate at Temple University and then graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry class of 1955. After graduating from college he served in the United States Air Force Dental Corps from 1955 to 1957. Dr. Johnson opened his dental practice in Berwick in 1957 and practiced with his daughter, Jean until his retirement in 1995.
Dr. Johnson was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Berwick where he served as a trustee and a member of the board of elders. He was a life member of the American Dental Association, The PA American Dental Society, Tri County Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He was also a member of the Berwick Area United Way, American Red Cross, Siloan Lodge # 225, Topeka, Kansas, Caldwell Consistory, Irem Temple, B.P.O.E., Berwick Rotary Club where he was a past president, Rotary International Benefactor and Harris Fellow, the National Ski Patrol, and Cole’s Creek Hunting Club.
Dr. Johnson was active in civic and community fairs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and skiing.
In addition to his wife Sally with whom he celebrated their 18th anniversary he is survived by his four children; Jane Ferro husband Jeffrey of New Hope, PA, Dr. Jean Johnson of Millville, PA, Eric Johnson of Mt. Top, PA, Megan Prezioso husband Matthew of Bloomsburg, PA. Also surviving grandchildren; Ryan and Megan Rongone, Leigh and Lynn Ferro, Eric and Julia Johnson, and Brian, Erin, and Grace Prezioso.
Dr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents as well as his first wife of 42 years Helen Young Johnson, three sisters; Dorothy Wasco, Katherine Johnson, and Kay Johnson, brother Karl Johnson, and daughter-in-law Jackie Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday February 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 320 N Market St, Berwick, PA 18603 with Pastor Steve Engelhardt officiating. Due to Covid restrictions only 50 people may attend the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Pine Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick. All CDC guidelines will be followed.
