Douglas C. Housenick, 79, of Berwick, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born Sept. 21, 1942, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Douglas and Eleanor (Crisman) Housenick.
He graduated from Berwick High School Class of 1960 and received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Penn State University in 1964. Doug worked and retired from PPL. He was a member of Washington Lodge No. 265 F&AM, Norry Gun Club, spending many hours shooting targets with his friend, Gerry, Berwick Fire Co., and Lewisburg Fire Co. He was a former Deacon at Grove Presbyterian Church, Danville, and a former Boy Scout Leader.
He enjoyed bowling where he was on different teams in the Berwick and Hazleton area. Living at the Meadows at Maria Joseph Living Care Community, he had many friends. On good days you would see him out riding on his motorized chair and talking to people. Living here we had seen a lot of friends come and go, but knowing them was a pleasure. Doug loved to fish. He tied his own flies and enjoyed his fishing boat.
Douglas is survived by his wife, the former Connie Lutz, whom he married Sept. 26, 1964; daughter, Dawn Paredis of Bloomsburg; and grandson, Trent Paredis. Doug loved his dogs. They will be with him always.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street, Berwick with Pastor Robert Andrews officiating.
