Delores Jean (Eveland) Witchey

Delores Jean Eveland Witchey, 87, of Berwick, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. 

She was born on Dec. 25, 1934, in Berwick, a daughter of the late Leon and Blanche (McAllister) Eveland. She graduated from Berwick High School and after graduation she went to work for Wise Potato Chip factory. She later went on to work at Kaydette (Lady Ester) for 25 years. 

Delores enjoyed baking cookies and cakes, doing puzzles, gardening, and being with family. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Berwick. On Nov. 26, 1955, she married Jay Witchey at St. Paul’s and they were married for 59 years before Jay passed away.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay Witchey; her daughter, Lori Bassett; her brothers: Jack, Harold, Dane, Ronald, Royce, and Marvin; her sisters: Dorothy Shaffer and Betty.

She is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Lisa Witchey; her grandchildren: Matthew Witchey and Shannon Witchey; her brother, Jerry; her son-in-law, Scott Bassett; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful grand dog “Fletch”. 

Services will be Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick, with Pastor William Klebe officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
