Catherine May (Jones) Davenport

Catherine May Jones Davenport passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 28, 2020, at the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident with her husband, Richard.

Cathy was born on May 25, 1933, in Nanticoke, PA, the daughter of Ellis Jones and Dorothy Graham Jones Siebecker. She married the love of her life, Richard Henry Davenport of Plymouth Township, PA, on July 25, 1953. They were the parents of six children.

She graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1951. Cathy worked several jobs during her working years, including the Nanticoke Police force, Bell Telephone Company, and the Berwick Hospital.

More than anything, she loved being a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She was an avid reader, who also enjoyed playing Bingo and the PA Lottery, traveling to the casinos, and working word puzzles. She especially loved children and cats, particularly her favorite cat, Rusty.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Laurel Lee Rinehimer, her grandson Charles Hopper, her great-grandson Travis Potter, and her sweet Rusty.

Cathy is survived by her husband Richard, her daughter Dotty Hopper with her husband Terry of Berwick, and her four sons, Richard with his husband Russell of State College, William with his wife Sally of Berwick, Thomas of Millville, and John of Berwick. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, a half-brother William of Indiana, a sister-in-law Evelyn Bridle of Florida, and a niece and nephew.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.
