Obituary

Anna Jean Smethers Kiliti, 88, of Berwick passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Berwick Retirement Village. She was born July 13, 1931, in
Berwick, a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Ellen (Hosler) Smethers.
She graduated from Berwick High School’s Class of 1949. Anna Jean lived on the family farm for 52 years before moving to her daughter’s house on Kiliti Road. Anna Jean was a member of the Stone United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she was the pianist and organist of her church. One of her greatest accomplishments was being able to play the piano and organ. Anna Jean had a lot of ear trouble growing up and lost her hearing as a teenager. At the age of 12 she started playing the piano and organ at the church and only had taken two years of piano lessons and never played the organ. She used her eyes a lot so that she could “hear” God’s call. The main interest in her life was her family and the love for music in her church. She crocheted afghans for each of her five granddaughters and blankets for each of her greatgrandchildren. She also helped with the family farm and processed deer for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Kiliti, who died in June 2016; son, Louis A. Kiliti; and three brothers: the Rev. Herbert R. Smethers, Doyle Smethers and Robert Smethers.
Anna Jean is survived by her daughter, Donna A. Harris and husband Douglas; son, David A. Kiliti and wife Marilee; five granddaughters: April Harris Snyder and husband Matthew, Ginny Harris Crake, Megan Kiliti, Amber Ahmad and husband Haseeb, Emilee Kiliti; four great-grandsons: Harrison,
Everett, Henry Snyder and Russell Crake; and one greatgranddaughter, Karolena Crake.
