Jean Maxine Kline, 83, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 3, 2019, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born March 8, 1936, in Berwick, a daughter of the late Theodore and Pauline (Klinger) Sitler.
She graduated from Berwick High School and worked for the Central Columbia School District as a secretary until her retirement. Jean was a member of the Evansville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and arranging flowers for services. Jean was active at the Briar Creek Grange for many years and especially enjoyed helping with the grange’s Bloomsburg Fair exhibit. She also liked bowling and gardening.
Jean is survived by her husband, W. Franklin “Frank” Kline, whom she married Sept. 8, 1956; two sons: David Kline and wife, Beth, of Bloomsburg, Barry Kline and wife, Jolie, of Simsbury, Conn.; grandson, Nicholas Kline; two brothers: Donald Sitler and wife, Mary, of Berwick, Carl Sitler and wife, Marjorie, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; sister, Betty Nichols, and husband, Steve, of Virginville; and sister-in-law, Emma Jane Sitle,r of Pittsburgh.
Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Kline, her parents, and a brother, Nelson Sitler.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 N. Market St., Berwick, with her Pastor, Robert Rice, officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 9, 2019, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
