Janet Yvonne Howard

Janet Yvonne Howard, 79, of Berwick, passed away on Dec. 25, 2018. She had been in ill health for the past year.

Janet was born in Berwick, on Sept. 20, 1939, the only child of the late Clyde and Vera (Williams) Howard. She was a 1957 graduate of Berwick High School and an executive secretary at Bercon Packaging for 36 years and at Dyco Inc. for 11 years, from where she retired.

Janet was well-organized and extremely efficient, a trait that carried over into her private life. She loved going to lunch and spending time with her family and friends. Janet was very involved with her high school class reunions, helping to organize them for many years. She was generous and enjoyed giving to her friends and extended family. She enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas, where she enjoyed the slots.  

Janet is survived by many cousins, including Rose Naugle, Berwick, and her children, David Naugle, Lynn Naugle and Luann Smith, to whom she was considered their “second mother”. She is also survived by cousins: Martha Barretts, Berwick, Bonnie Howard and Vicki Tripoli, California, and the Williams cousins: Fred, Fillmore, Hedy and Nan of Hazleton. She also leaves her extended family, Kay and Albert Shemonis, and their children, Holly Keefer and Adam Shemonis, and lifelong friend, Donnis Wolfe, who was like a sister to her.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and special cousin, Lloyd Naugle.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Berwick.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until time of service.
