James N. Williams Sr.

James N. Williams Sr., 81, of Berwick passed away Saturday August 25, 2018 at Berwick Retirement Village I, where he had been a resident since January. He was born July 25, 1936 in Berwick, a son of the late Nelson and Winifred (Reagan) Williams.

He graduated from Berwick High School class of 1954, and then worked at Wise Foods for over 50 years. James belonged to Berwick Christian Church. He played in the Berwick Cadets Drum and Bugle Corp. He was an avid Nascar fan, enjoyed doing wood work, photography, and riding motorcycles. He was a life member of G.W.R.R.A, and the Elks of Berwick.

James loved riding motorcycle with his wife. He was a loving person and loved taking care of his family.

The miles James and his wife traveled were approximately 350,000 Gold Wing Miles. They went to all of the United States except Alaska and Hawaii, hitting every county in our home state in Pennsylvania. They visited 32 of the 44 national parks located in the lower 48 states, countless national historic sites and national forests and all the Canadian provinces, including the Maritime Provinces, except British Columbia and Alberta. All along their travels they have collected patches representing their stops and attached them to their banner.

James is survived by his son David J. Williams of Loretta, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife Eldora “Betty Anne” Williams who passed away September 11, 2014, son James N. Williams Jr. who passed away in 1979, and sister Gladys Boyle.

Services will be Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick with his pastor, Pastor John Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
