Jack Dent Obituary

Jack Wayne Dent, 86 passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 15, 2018, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. 

He was born June 27, 1931 in Berwick, Pa. He currently resided on his family farm, Summer Hill Dairy. Jack attended Berwick Area Schools and then enlisted in the US Air Force until he was honorably discharged and return home to be with his wife Anna Mae Michael. Together they started the Summer Hill Dairy Store and milked 32 registered Holstein cows and had two children. Jack started his agricultural career with the Northeast Breeding Association for cattle and then continued to milk dairy cattle for many years.  Anna Mae passed away in November of 1982. Jack and his children remained on the family farm for many years, with Nelson taking over the farm which is still active today. Jack remarried in November 12th, 1988 to Diane Dent starting a new chapter in his life. Together they enjoyed gardening, and Jack enjoyed her wonderful cooking and company.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Freda Dent, a brother Jay Dent, and a sister Gloria. Surviving family members include his wife Diane Dent, sister Gale Vought, his children Nelson and wife Jenny Dent, and Marian and husband Kirk Lehman. Grandchildren include Jessica and Danielle Lehman, and Kate, Becca, and Miles Dent.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church 200 North Market St. Berwick, Pa 18603, with Pastor Robert Wood officiating.  Burial will be at Summer Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Summer Hill Cemetery Association at 160 Twin Church Road, care of Linda Sult.
