Galen Nissley Erb, 79, of Berwick, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Lancaster, PA on April 30, 1938, he was the son of the late Paul and Katheryn Nissley Erb from Mt. Joy, Pa. He married his wife, Barbara Fay Heistand Erb on April 28, 1961.

Galen enjoyed life to the fullest and found joy in everything big and small. He was an avid collector of many things. His hobbies included woodworking, automobile shows, motorcycle shows, hit and miss engine shows, airplanes and flying, traveling and most of all spending time with his family especially his granddaughters. He was an active member of the National Desoto Club, The Antique Motorcycle Club, and the AACA Antique Auto Club of America. He loved reading and retained everything he read. He loved meeting new people and would strike up a conversation with strangers everywhere he went. Galen worked at Consolidated Cigar for 20 plus years, and then worked at Consolidated Container until his retirement. He attended Berwick Bible Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Fay Heistand Erb for 56 years, his son Steven Heistand Erb and wife Barbara of Berwick, along with his granddaughters Katelyn Styer and husband Rodney and Kristlyn Erb all of Berwick. His sister Maribel Dice and husband George, sister Julie Graybill and husband Robert, brother Gerald Erb and wife Judy, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Fred Erb, Wilbur Erb and his surviving wife Amelia, and baby sister Marian Erb.

A private service will be held at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St. Berwick with his pastor, Rev. Brad Iverson officiating.
