Fred M. Aten, 72, of Nescopeck, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at his home.
He was born January 18, 1947 in Berwick, a son of the late Fred T. and Inez Elizabeth (Edwards) Aten.
He was a 1964 graduate of Central Columbia High School and a 1966 graduate of Williamsport Technical School. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology. He was a past electronic technician for General Dynamics. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Elks, Bloomsburg Moose, the Bloomsburg Fair Association, the Mifflinville Fire Company and an associate member of the PASR. He also belonged to the PA Farm Bureau for fifty years where he served on the board for ten years. He was an avid bowler and skier. He also loved to travel with his wife, having been to all fifty states multiple times. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife Rosalee M. (Uttaro) who he married August 5, 1967 and a son Bryan Aten of Blue Bell, a daughter Stephanie Aten and her husband Matthew High of Traverse City, Michigan and five grandchildren Rowan, Nicholas and Lincoln Aten, Josh and Brianna High. He is also survived by a brother John L. Aten of Georgia and sister Judy Clinton of Texas.
A memorial service will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 12:00pm at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 1024 North Market St. Berwick, Pa 18603 with Pastor Brian Vasey of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
