Elaine Bower Farrell, 96, of Bloomsburg passed away Saturday May 12, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was born March 2, 1922 in Alden Station, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Erma (Woomer) Evans.
She graduated from Newport Township High School in 1940. She married in 1942 and worked in the home until 1973 when she became employed as a technician in the Central Sterile Department of the Berwick Hospital. She retired from that position in 1984. Elaine was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Susan J. Varner and partner William Hoffner of Bloomsburg, sister-in-law Isabel Bower, and niece Judy Fenstermacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her first husband Graydon C. Bower who passed away in 1970, second husband Roy E. Farrell who passed away in 2006, and son David Bower who died in 1948 of polio.
Elaine was a quiet woman with a kind heart and a strong sense of loyalty; a tireless and loving caregiver. Despite having faced more than her share of challenging hard times and personal loss, she remained an eternal optimist, believing that every tomorrow would be better than every today.
She will be missed beyond words by her daughter Susan.
