Ruth D. Kelchner

Ruth D. Kelchner, 98, of Berwick passed away Friday April 7, 2017 at Orangeville Nursing home. Born in Center Township on April 18, 1918, a daughter of the late Floyd and Lillie (Artman) Kelchner.

She graduated from National Bible Institute/Shelton Bible College in New York City. She was employed at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for 34 years, where she also took some classes and also took business classes at Wheaton College Summer School. She was active in children’s work most of her life.

During college years she worked with New England Evangelistic Association doing children’s ministry and continued this minimally in Chicago while employed at Mood Bible Institute. She returned to Berwick where she retired.

She was a member of LCBC Columbia-Montour. She was a volunteer car driver for her older friends.

Ruth is survived by her sister Dorothy Hallman of Berwick, nephew Harry Ridall and wife Carla of Berwick, niece Cherridan Vanderveen and husband Hank of North Carolina, plus several great nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marian, and brother Harlan.

Graveside services will be Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Pine Grove Cemetery, Market St., with her Pastor, David Nye officiating. Family and friends may send online condolences to
