Robert Glen “Boonie” Boone Jr., 73, of Berwick passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa, after struggling with a progressive neurological disease for the past four years.

Born in Berwick on November 27, 1942, he was the oldest of three sons of Olive (Stevens) Boone of Berwick and the late Robert G. Boone, Sr.

Bob graduated from Berwick High School, Class of 1960. He began working at Weis Markets during High School and continued working there until 2011, a job he loved for fifty one years. He also worked as a crossing guard for the Berwick School District for many years. In his younger years he volunteered his time as a fire fighter with the East Berwick Fire Company. He also loved to volunteer coaching and umpiring youth league sports.

Bob loved watching sports on TV especially Penn State Football, Miami Dolphins Football and Dodgers Baseball. He was a forever fan and supporter of the Berwick “Dawgs” Football team. He also loved to watch and order things from QVC.

Bob’s greatest passion was his five grandchildren. He loved doing things with them, especially supporting, watching and encouraging all of them in their sports and activities.

In addition to his mom, Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherry (Hettinger), Berwick, two daughters Debbie Hess of Berwick and Deanna and her husband Richard Yoder Jr. of Nescopeck.  He is also survived by his loving grandchildren MaKayla and Nicholas Hess, Christiana, Abigail and Emma Yoder and two brothers Kenneth Boone and his wife Kay of Pelzer, SC. and David Boone and is wife Angela of Berwick.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 1024 N. Market St. Berwick, with Pastor Robert Hettinger, his brother-in-law officiating.  Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut St.  The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  Friends unable to attend may send condolences at www.jameslhinckleyjrfuneralhome.com.
