Robert "Bob" Wert, 81, of Berwick passed away on June 29, 2017 following a long and strong battle with COPD.  He can now breathe easy.
He was the son of the late Clair M. and Pearl E. (Wells) Wert.
After graduating from Lock Haven High School he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956 and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.   He attended Pennsylvania Technical College and had a long career with Bechtel Corp.  He retired after 25 years of service, spending much of his career as a project superintendent for power plant construction.
Bob had a quick and dry wit, and was known to many friends as ‘Father Wert’.  He had a passion for hunting, fishing and wild life.  He was very artistic, he often wrote poems for family and friends, painted, and enjoyed woodworking and carving.  He loved new cars and classic country music.  He enjoyed building models and flying (and crashing) RC planes, and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cynthia Wert, whom he lovingly called “Phymphie”, and his children: Jennifer Wert Pearson (and her husband Jonas Pearson), Steven L. Wert (his wife Lori Sue), Cathy L. Guinn, Lori M. Ward, Robert A. Wert, and Noreen K. Wert.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Claire and Pearl Wert, his sister Jeri Hawkes, and his brother Walter Wert.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no public service. Donations may be made to Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave # 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 in his memory.
Family and friends may send online condolences to jameslhinckleyjrfuneralhome.com.
