Rhona Yvonne (Thomas) Jacoby

Rhona Yvonne (Thomas) Jacoby, 91, of Berwick passed away in her sleep on Wednesday June 21, 2017. She was born October 8, 1925 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late David and Lulu (Krum) Thomas.

Rhona was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School class of 1943. She was employed by Weis Markets, Berwick Hospital, and Berwick Knitting Mill. Her most important job was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She belonged to a bowling league, was a Boy Scout den mother, Sunday school teacher, involved in the PTO and Berwick Band Booster Club for over 15 years, and was president of the Rosewood Community Club. Rhona was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Berwick.

She was preceded in death by her husband George (Bud) Meade Jacoby, whom she married July 27, 1946. As well as her sister Jean (Thomas) Leiby.

She is fondly remember by her children: Connie and John Sours of St. Augustine, FL, Mark and Diane Jacoby of St. Augustine, FL, David and Carla Jacoby of Berwick, PA, and Barb and Ed Strong of Loysville, PA. She was a loving grandma to seven grandchildren: Matt, Christy, Chad, Lisa, Fawn, Sky, and Jade. And a great-grandma to eight great-grandchildren: Cameron, Hannah, Thomas, Brandt, Peytan, Joslyn, Jacoby, and Kloe. Rhona will be forever remembered by various nieces, cousins, friends and extended family.

Rhona loved sitting on the cottage porch and watching the hummingbirds and the creek. She always had a pot of coffee on and puzzle book on the table. She was an avid reader and jigsaw puzzle doer.
