Louise H. Miller, 86, of Gainesville, Florida, died Sunday evening, May 1, 2016, at UF Health Shands Hospital, from congestive heart failure. She passed away peacefully with family members present.

Born September 26, 1929, in Berwick, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Emily Houck. She attended Berwick High School and married Berwick-born Raymond L. Miller in 1948.

In 1952, she moved to Miami, Florida area with her husband, where she lived and worked for the Dade County School Board until her retirement. She and her husband moved back to Pennsylvania in 1987 and continued to live in north Florida during the winter months. After the passing of her husband, she moved to the north Florida residence (Alford) and then to Sebring, Florida. In 2010, she moved to an assisted living facility in Gainesville, Florida in 2010 to be closer to her oldest son and daughter-in-law.

After retirement, Ms. Miller enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and visiting with friends and family in Florida and Pennsylvania. She was an avid reader of novels and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing card games and scrabble. In Florida, she volunteered at the local hospital.

Ms. Miller is survived by her son Larry W. Miller (Irma D. Velez) of Gainesville, Florida; son Thomas R. Miller (Lois Hand-Miller) of Palatine, Illinois; brother Glenn Houck (Mary Houck) of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; and sister Doris Kile (Allen Kile) of Orangeville, Pennsylvania.

Ms. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Miller and two brothers, Leonard Houck, Jr. and Donald Houck.

Memorial services will be held graveside at New Rosemont Cemetery, 2001-2099 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg on Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m.
