Lois Stair Gross, 88, Berwick, died on December 27, 2017, in Thornwald Home, Carlisle, PA.

Born April 13, 1929 in Dorrance, she was the daughter of the late Leon F. Stair and Amelia (Heller) Stair Harter. She married her childhood sweetheart, the late James F. Gross, on April 15, 1950 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Lois was a graduate of Newport Township High School and attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. She was a Real Estate Broker with her husband in Gross Real Estate.

She loved her church, Good Shepherd Lutheran, was a longtime choir member, and also participated in the WELCA and the Bible Study Group. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and those friendships represented a loyalty, love, and support that lasted almost 70 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Twentieth Century Delphian Club of Berwick.

She is survived by her children, Diane Gross Zeiders, New Bloomfield, PA; Shelley Gross-Gray, Nashville, TN; and Dr. Philip Gross and his wife, Tracey, Magnolia, DE. Six grandchildren survive her: Jonathan and Christopher Gray, Benjamin and Evan Zeiders, and Tyler and Erin Gross.

Preceding her in death are a brother, Leon, Jr., a step-brother Calvin Harter, brother in law, Richard Lewis and sister-in-law, Marion Gross. Surviving are two sisters, Hilda Lewis of Mountaintop, PA, and Loretta Smith (Donald) of Mesa, Arizona and brother-in-law, Robert Gross, Mountaintop, PA.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who was confident, strong yet gentle, and a woman with an undying love for her family. Lois will be remembered for her kind, loving, caring, loyal, and compassionate nature. Her family will certainly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 30th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Berwick, with the Rev. John Koons, Dean of the North Branch Conference, officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street. Family will receive friends from 10 am until time of service at the church.
