Jeffrey B. Leighow, 57, of Berwick passed away May 24, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a nine month battle with cancer. He was born November 11, 1959 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late P. Blaine and Kathryn (Gensel) Leighow.
He graduated from Central Columbia High School class of 1977, and then joined the Army National Guard during Desert Storm, retiring after 25 years as Sgt. Jeff worked for numerous trucking companies, last working for Joe and Jans, Inc., Danville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting coins and Hess trucks. He was an animal lover.
Jeff is survived by his wife the former Judith Straub, whom he married August 16, 2013, daughter Kristin R. Shumate and husband Peter of Danville, stepchildren Thomas H. Parker III. of Bloomsburg, and Ronald Parker of Bloomsburg. As well as sister Beth A. Lawhorn and husband Steven of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, and two grandchildren Dade G. Ballard and Jaelynn D. Shumate, step- grandchildren; Kinsley Weaver, Brianna Shumate, and Devin Shumate, nephew Zachery S. Lawhorn of Florida, and several cousins.
Services will be Tuesday May 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., with Pastor William “Bill” Renno of Faith Chapel, Danville officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park.
