Frank Lehnowsky, 92, of Berwick passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born January 25, 1924 in Berwick, a son of the late Alex and Pearl (Ternosky) Lehnowsky.

He attended Berwick Schools and joined the United States Army, 310th Signal Battalion serving in the European Theater, World War II in communications. He received the European Medal set, Victory World War II, Good Conduct and Carbine Marksman.

Frank is an active member of the SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church.  He also was an active member of the 310th Signal Battalion Re-union Committee. He is a former member of the Holy Name Society, Administrator Ukrainian Catholic youth center, previous member of the North Berwick Rod and Gun Club.

Frank enjoyed cooking and baking ethic food.  He was also a collector of cook books, coins, he loved to do sudoku, puzzles.  He loved to travel to New York City and even drove cross country.  He also enjoyed taking care of his fruit trees, his yard and especially his garden until an injury prevented him from doing it.  For years he had a small fruit and vegetable stand so none would go to waste.  He worked at A.C.F., Americana, Deluxe, ARGO of Penn until he retired in 1986.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Michael, Steven and Nicholas and a sister Mary Lopashanski. He was the last surviving member of his family.

He will be greatly missed by his spouse of sixty six years Helen Uram and twin sons Gregory Lehnowsky and his wife Judith of Mountain Top, Craig Lehnowsky and his companion Cherrie Long of Berwick and five grandchildren Jacob, Lauren, Mark, Jenna and Erin and numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Parastas Service Thursday at 9:30 at James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 1024 North Market St. Berwick, with Divine Liturgy at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church 706 North Warren St. Berwick Thursday at 10:00 am at with Father John Seniw.  Burial will be at Ss. Cyril Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home & Cremation Services 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Parastas service at 7:15 pm.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care given to Frank on his journey to heaven by Hospice and Caregivers Home Health Hospice of Berwick and the nurses and doctors at the Berwick Hospital.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church 706 North Warren St. Berwick, Pa 18603.
