Edith Davenport

Edith Davenport, 73, of Berwick, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Signature Health Center, Bloomsburg. Born Dec. 27, 1942, in Reyburn, a daughter of the late Franklin E. and Ethel (Dennis) Sleepy, she graduated from Northwest High School and then joined the military during the Vietnam War.
Edith volunteered at Berwick Library and at the Berwick YMCA where she was the volunteer of the year and she loved working with children. She enjoyed learning about her family genealogy. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.
Edith is survived by her three children: Darren J. Davenport and wife, Cheryl; David F. Davenport; and Nancy G. (Davenport) Alwood and husband, David; four grandchildren: Angelina Davenport; Kaleigh Alwood; Zachary Alwood; and Jeremy Alwood; as well as sister, Betty Timbrell.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Siebel; and brother, Robert Masters.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick. Burial will follow at Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
